As long as you have a copy of the shortname value in the User Name field you can have anything you want. R6 looks at the username field when it does authenication. The work is really up the administrator because the new user process will not 'copy' the shortname value and append the value to the Username field.

You can create a script to check to make sure that standard is follow.
